Hello Friends,

Today we will discuss on a very very important  topic that how to calculate the quantity of bricks and mortar in  wall at site. Today I will telling you the methods to calculate bricks and mortar in full details:-

Method to calculate Quantity of bricks and mortar in wall

Take a sample Brick As shown in fig 2.1

Length = 9’’

Width = 4.5’’

Or Thickness  = 3’’

This is the Standard Size Brick

1st Convert  brick inch dimensions in mm

After Conversion in mm,You get new dimension of brick is

Length = 228 mm ( 9”) or 0.228 mtr.

Width = 114 mm ( 4.5”) or 0.114  mtr.

Thickness = 70 mm ( 3”) or 0.07 mtr.

These brick sizes are without mortar

Given.

Consider Volume = 1 cum

Ratio = 1:6

Minimum Thickness of Mortar = 13 mm

After adding the thickness of Mortar 13 mm our Brick size will be

Length Of Brick = 241 mm or 0.241 meter.

Width Of Brick=127 mm or 0.127 meter

Thickness Of Brick=83 mm or 0.083 meter.

Now We will Calculate

volume of 1 brick without mortar  = Length x breadth x Thickness of Brick

=  0.228 x 0.114 x 0.07   = 0.00181944 Cum.

One thing is always remembers that when you calculate the Quantity of bricks and mortar in wall do not round off the calculation fig (Its my Personal Experience) Because of this here we take only 1 cum quantities but when we calculate for a big quantity it will give a great impact on the a Result Quantity Either it may be give more or less results. So Do not Round off any figures while calculation of Quantity.

So, Volume of One Brick Is Calculated

the volume of Brick with Mortar   = Length x breadth x Thickness of Brick

=  0.241 x 0.127 x 0.083

= 0.00252984 Cum.

So, The Volume Of Brick Without Mortar = 0.00181944 Cum.

And, The Volume Of Brick With Mortar    = 0.00252984 Cum.

Now ,We Will Find the numbers of Bricks = 1/Volume of Brick

Hence,                                                               =1/ 0.00252984

= 395.28 No.Of Bricks.

Total Volume Of Bricks in 1 cum = No.Of Bricks x Vo. Of Brick Without mortar

Total Volume Of Bricks in 1 cum  = 395.28 x  0.00181944

Total Volume Of Bricks in 1 cum  = 0.7191882432 Cum.

So, This is the Actual Volume of Bricks will consume in 1 Cum.

Than Volume Of Mortar =  Total Volume – Total Volume Of Bricks in 1 cum

= 1- 0.7191882432

= 0.2808117568 Cum

But this is the Wet Volume of Mortar

As You Know, In Quantity Calculation We Only Get Wet Volume of Materials

So, To get Dry Volume of Mortar just multiply it with 1.33

So, The Dry Volume of mortar = 0.2808117568 x 1.33 = 0.373479636544 Cum.

Now,We will Calculate the Cement ,Sand in Mortar

1). Cement

=  Total Volume of Mortar x Cement ration/sum of ratio

= 0.373479636544 x  1 /7

=  0.53354233792 Cum.

Because in 1 Cum is equal to  1440 kg cement

Density of Construction Materials

So, Cement = 0.53354233792 x 1440  =  76.83 Kg

Or  1 cement bags contain 50 kg cement

So, No. Of Cement Bags  = 76.83 / 50 = 1.53 Bags Cement

Now ,

2). Sand

= Total Volume of Mortar x Cement ration/sum of ratio

= 0.373479636544 x  6 /7

= 0.320125402752

Because 1 m3 is equal to 35.31 cubic feet

So, Sand =  0.320125402752 x 35.31

=  11.30 Cft.

So,this is the  methods to calculate the quantity of bricks cement sand mortar for any brick masonry walls

Here we will find the

Numbers of Bricks = 395 bricks

Numbers of Cement Bags = 1.53 Bags

Sand Quantity  = 11.30 Cft
